We love Filter Coffee!

July 6, 2016 Something Brewed

We hand brew all of our filter coffees to order on our brew bar and we just wanted to share with you why we take so much time and effort, hand crafting your perfect brew.

Speciality Coffee

The coffee we use at Something Brewed is always speciality grade.  That means it is within the top 5% of all coffee produced in the world.  Our roasters source coffee that is traceable to country, region, farm and sometimes we even know the farmers name! This is called Single Origin.

Characteristics

Each country's coffee has unique characteristics, and different varieties of coffee have different qualities.  When you dark roast the coffee, lots of these characteristics and qualities are lost to the caramelisation process (burning), so our coffee is roasted much lighter to allow the natural flavours of the coffee to be enjoyed.  Coffee is a fruit and its fruity and floral notes can be surprising!

V60 Filter Coffee

V60 Filter Coffee is a soft brewing process.  Hot water and gravity is used to draw the flavour out of the coffee grounds and then a filter paper stops the oils and silt entering your cup. (Unlike Espresso which is created under pressure and greatly unfiltered) Therefore it is perfect to explore delicate flavours and hidden taste notes in each coffee.  There are many filter methods but we chose the V60 because it has a wonderful balance of body and lightness to showcase the best of each coffee.

Brew Your Own

Have a look at a little video we made to show you how to brew the perfect V60 at home xx
